Blocklock runs football squares boards without accounts. This page says exactly what we collect, why, who sees it, and how to get it removed. It is short because we collect little.
What we collect
- If you run a board (the commissioner): your email address, whether you left the updates box ticked, and the board settings you enter (name, teams, price, payouts).
- If you claim a square: the name you type. It appears on the board for everyone with the link, and in the alerts sent to people who turned them on.
- A device ID: your browser generates a random ID the first time you open a board and keeps it in local storage. We store a one-way hash of it next to your squares so the board can show which squares are yours and so “your square hit” alerts can find you. It carries no personal details and is not shared across sites.
- If you turn alerts on: the push subscription your browser issues (an endpoint address and encryption keys), tied to that board and your device hash.
- How you found us: when you arrive from another site, we record that site’s domain name (only the domain, never the full page address), at most once per device per day. We also count share taps per board.
- Page analytics: Vercel Web Analytics gives us aggregate page views and referrers. It is cookieless and does not identify or track people across sites.
What we do not collect
No accounts or passwords. No payment details, ever. No precise location, no contacts, no photos, no advertising identifiers. Blocklock sets no cookies.
How we use it
- To run the board: show the names, decide the winning squares, post results.
- To send the commissioner the board link once, from boards@mail.playblocklock.com, and, unless they unticked the updates box when creating the board, occasional Blocklock updates (new features, Season Pass, football and squares tips) with an unsubscribe link in every one. Those updates go out through Resend, which keeps the list.
- To send alerts to the devices that asked for them.
- To count where visitors come from and whether boards fill, so we know what is working.
That is the whole list. We do not sell or rent personal information. Blocklock shows no ads today; if that ever changes, this page changes first.
Who can see it
- Anyone with a board’s link sees the names on that board. Boards are unlisted and marked not for indexing by search engines, but the link is the key, so share it with your group only.
- The services that run Blocklock, each processing only what its job needs: Vercel (hosting and analytics), Supabase (the database, hosted in the United States), Resend (email delivery), and the Apple, Google, and Mozilla push services (alert delivery). Scores come from ESPN; nothing about you is sent to ESPN.
- Nobody else, unless the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Boards, squares, and results stay up so a group can look back at what happened. Push subscriptions are removed when you turn alerts off or when the push service reports the device gone. Commissioner emails stay until you ask us to remove them. Referral and share counts are tied to a device hash, never a name.
Your choices
- Claim under any name you like, including a nickname.
- Turn alerts off from the board at any time.
- Unsubscribe from updates with the link in any email.
- To remove a board, a name, an email address, or everything tied to your device, email us. We will confirm when it is done, usually within a few days.
Children
Blocklock is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
Changes are posted here with a new effective date. Anything material gets a notice on the site.
